Shivi Froman is a teacher, actor and theatrical producer who lives in Tekoa. He is the son of the late Rabbi Menachem Froman, also of Tekoa.
Shivi was a rebellious child, who in his teens joined the Kahane Youth, an extreme right wing organization diametrically opposed to Rabbi Froman’s views. Shivi went on to serve in the Army, rising to Captain in a unit based in the West Bank during the second intifada. After leaving the Army, Shivi returned to his father’s neo-Hasidic faith.
In the last month’s of Froman’s life, the Rabbi and Shivi were working on starting a theater group in Jerusalem, where theology and theater can meet, an inclusive troupe that includes settlers and Tel Aviv leftists alike.
